The mounted Indigenous resistance against the Spanish led by Erendira—warrior princess of the Purepecha people—has failed. Erendira escapes to the Pacific coast of Mexico to find another invading force of Spaniards sailing toward her homeland. But with the help of a priestess, the rebel leader summons the vicious scourge of the gods: a massive black shark that exacts brutal payment for the Spanish Conquest.
